So what did I get up to?
Well, I went to Runcible Spoon for brunch with Gastronomous_Anonymous... to state things plainly, we were lured by the idea of pork belly for breakfast. I must admit I was more engrossed in the cute chubby cheeked baby in my arms rather than the food, so you'll have to keep your eye out for GA's post as to an opinion to the food!
GA and I then branched out to Black Star Pastry in Newtown to purchase some goodies to take home. I couldn't say no to the super cute chubby ginger ninja and the mandarin custard doughnut. Amazeballs to both, but especially the doughnut. I actually cut it neatly in half, with all the intention of sharing it with K, but after one bite, I knew that he wasn't going to get any. Not on my schedule. I have been salivating over that doughnut for the remainder of the weekend...
I cooked lots: potato salad, chocolate bundt cake with a white chocolate glaze (post coming soon), Oreo cheesecake (post coming soon), sausage rolls, my favourite coconut sour cream cake. I found a new gem in the supermarket - caramel chips, like chocolate chips, that I can use in cookies... I was so happy I instagrammed and purchased multiple packets.
I went to Becasse Bakery on the weekend to do my bit to support Justin North after the recent news of the financial difficulties surrounding his restaurants / eateries. I purchased a few things and then proceeded to demolish them all in one sitting. Gluttony and excess are my middle names.
I went shopping - for K, for my brothers, for my girlfriend and her new baby and a little bit for myself. I went into LV with the intention of walking out with a new handbag but didn't as nothing captured my heart. K dodged a bullet there.
And yes, I worked. As I always do. But it was only for a little bit - and I had four days off instead of the usual two, so it didn't seem that bad. I loved this long weekend - hope you loved yours too. I'll leave you with this fabulous quote that I saw on a card this weekend...
it was SO good to catch up with you! I think dragon really liked being held by you! and i can't believe i forgot to buy the donuts from black star pastry! i think we have to g back!

:O caramel chips! Was in Coles at Rhodes today but don't think I saw them there :(
ReplyDeleteI admit I was more than a little envious when I spied the instagram pic of a pork belly breakfast on the weekend. And eating dessert to help a restaurateur in need - how more selfless can you get! Truly commendable. I shall follow suit. Immediately!
